1) Price Hikes? What is/are the starting price(s) for wedding cakes? How much does each embellishment cost? What is the estimated total cost of my dream cake?
2) Custom or no? Will my cake be a custom creation or do I have to choose from a variety of set styles? Are variations and/or additions to set styles allowed?
3) Scratch or Box Batch? Are your cakes made from scratch or do you use basic cake batter mixes? What type of ingredients are used in both the icing(s) and filling(s)?
4) Delivery Details? When can I expect a confirmed arrival of my cake on the big day? Who is responsible for communicating the delivery confirmation? Who does the delivering?
5) Fresh Factor? How long before the wedding will my cake be ready (e.g. how many days will my cake be sitting there?) - The closer to the day of the wedding that the cake is made, the fresher, tastier, and more attractive the cake!
6) Secret Service? Who exactly is in charge of the cake production? Is there one person responsible for making my cake? How many people are typically involved? How many hours will it take, roughly, to make my cake based on specific assignments per baker?
7) Busy Bees? How many cakes does your shop typically do in a week? How much personal time do you guarantee per cake? Do you guarantee not to over-schedule so that you ensure a quality, fresh final product for every customer?
8) Incentives? Do you include a complimentary top tier (for the anniversary) and/or do you replicate a small, fresh tier for the anniversary a year later (some bakeries actually do this and it’s a great incentive)?
9) Licensed Baker? Are you a licensed (by the state health department) baker and/or how long have you been in the business?
10) Specialty Services? Are wedding cakes your specialty? How long have you been baking wedding cakes? Do you have a specific design specialty or are you open and comfortable with a variety of styles? Do you have a portfolio of your work that I can observe?
