Mike Poynter Photography
With weddings and events we use a mixture
of traditional and photojournalist photography. If you are
having a semi-formal wedding/event you probably should look
for a photographer who has a balance of both traditional and
photojournalist styles. That way the photographer can capture
the light-hearted moments while still creating that elegant
feel with traditional classical photography. Yes, some posed
shots are necessary since at weddings you have to have the
family shots.
We also use the photojournalistic approach
which means we cover a wedding or event similar to how a magazine
photographer would cover any other event--by observing and
recording the highlights. Some people call this a war photographer
since we get out in the action and capture it all. This is
in contrast to the 'traditional' photographer who attempts
to make a perfect portrait from each shot. The photojournalist
approach basically captures the true emotion of the day. You
and your guest will have your photos taken without even realizing
it.
